i need the letter o silent nearly more related words
The only clear-cut cases of silent <o> I’m aware of are the second <o> in colonel, the first one in laboratory, and the one in pardon (due to the following syllabic <n>). I prefer thinking in terms of vowel digraphs, but if you don’t treat <oe> and <eo> as digraphs, you could say that the <o> is silent in leopard, jeopardy, people and phoebe. If you don’t treat <ou> as a digraph, you could say that there is a silent <o> in the following: conspicuous, continuous, courteous, curious, curiously, dangerous, enormous, famous, furious, furiously, generous, glorious, gorgeous, hideous, illustrious, industrious, ingenious, jealous, jealousy, joyous, marvelous, monstrous, mysterious, nervous, numerous, obvious, obviously, perilous, pious, previous, previously, prosperous, ridiculous, serious, seriously, thoroughly, treacherous, tremendous, various, victorious, vigorous, virtuous, wondrous. Also in these: country, cousin, enough, rough, roughly, southern, touch, tough, young, youngster. And in these:
could, couldn't, couldst, should, shouldn't, would, wouldn't, wouldst. And these:
routine, through, throughout, you, you'd, you'll, you've. And in Houston. I don’t recommend treating vowel digraphs this way, but it all depends on your analysis.
